the setting of my novel is in a rough neighborhood in the big city.this is important because there is alot of gang violence in this area and i believe the main charceter may get caught up in this.the main charcter in this book is deshawn and some direct traits of him would be his a young african american twelve year old 6th grader. some indirect traits about him is hes trust worthy because older gang members trust him to keep important secrets and hes very brave because he broke into some very dangerous peoples apartments.

I agree that he could possibly get caught up with gang vialence. But he could also possibly rise above it hes a smart kid who reads at his reading level. Also he hasn't joined a gang yet. But the leader of the gang Marcus has been talking to him and wants him to join I think the only way to figure out if he gives in or not is to keep reading.

He did end up getting caught up in gang vialence but it was more because his family was hungry and he needed to feed them he had no choice

  5. The internal conflict of this story is deshawn is fed up with his living conditions and life in the ghetto. He's ready to get out and trying to live a crime free life. The external conflicts would be marcus trying to pressure him into joining his gang deshawn is hesitant but I feel like he might end up giving in.

I would definetly agree that he is fed up with his living conditions. It's sad when he takes a bus around the average income families home and finds out how much better they had it them him.

This book is mostly about struggles of life in the ghetto. people in this book are dying left and right and they cant do anything about it. this book is really a tradgedy. I think Deshawn would be lucky if he makes it out the ghetto. because if he doesnt then he will either end up dead or in jail.

this book was very eye opening to life in the ghetto. they really are just struggling to live every day. they work things out with vialence just because they really havent learned any other way. this really maskes me want to help them out deshawn could of definetly used that help.
